My work is very textural, lots of lumps, bumps and patterns. I often combine my glass work into my metalwork. Movement, color, quality. Components are sometimes the artform in themselves, then combined with other elements to make an exciting piece. Lots of noise comes out of my studio as I hammer, solder, bend, file, pattern, patina and more--sterling silver or copper from a sheet. With just a general idea of where I'm headed, I bravely work the metal until it makes me smile. A finished piece that reflects my feelings about what inspires me--whether it's the surf, the tidepools, birds, dragonflys, exotic flowers, it usually reflects my invironment.
Chainmaille, an ancient artform is a combination of "rings", used to create armor protection. Today, it is used in contemporary patterns and designed as pendants, earrings, necklaces. although timeconsuming I find it beautiful to wear .
